Four phases, in order

I built the F.R.E.E. Method out of the moves I have actually walked women through, and these are the same four phases I take my own clients through inside Season Abroad. Open any one of them to see what it holds.

This is where you get honest about three things, what you actually want, what your money can actually do, and which countries will actually have you. Most women skip straight to picking a country, and that is why they stall, because a country you chose before you knew your own numbers is a guess.

  1. 1Build your North Star
  2. 2Establish your safety net
  3. 3Set your departure date
  4. 4Build your visa strategy
Before you go further. You need money that works before you move. That looks like income that follows you, benefits, assets you're selling, savings already saved, or a willingness to work once you get there, whether that's a local job or teaching English.

If you want to build income that follows you, watch the free masterclass. If you're going the teaching route, Bridge TEFL runs a 120 hour online certification. The local job route isn't something I cover, so that research is yours.

Phase complete when You have your North Star, your safety net has a number and a backup plan, there's a month on the calendar, and you have a visa strategy for the short term and the long term.

Everything you own and everything you owe is holding you somewhere, and none of it leaves on its own. Release is where every single thing gets a named way out and a date beside it, and that includes the people, because the hardest part of leaving is rarely the furniture.

  1. 5Downsize the house
  2. 6Downsize your liabilities
  3. 7Downsize your bills
  4. 8Release relationships

TELL NOBODY ABOUT YOUR MOVE UNTIL YOUR TICKET IS BOOKED.

Phase complete when Everything you own has a plan with a date beside it, your liabilities and bills are handled, and you've stopped asking people who were never going to say yes.

This is where it stops being a plan and becomes a departure. The ticket gets bought, your first two weeks get a roof, your documents get scanned and backed up, your visa goes in if your route needs it before you fly, and your first thirty days get planned while you still have the bandwidth to plan them.

  1. 9Departure secured
  2. 10Documents digitized
  3. 11Visa submitted
  4. 12Plan your first 30 days on the ground

Phase complete when Your flight is booked, your first two weeks have a roof, your documents are digitized, your visa is in if your route needed it, and your first thirty days are planned.

Landing is where most people think it ends, and it is really where the part nobody prepares you for begins. Establish is getting yourself working in a new country, the phone, the money, the way you get around, and then choosing where you actually want to live once you have seen it with your own eyes instead of through somebody's listing photos.

  1. 13Arrival
  2. 14Long-term housing secured

Phase complete when You're set up, and you've chosen your home with your own eyes on it.

You do not have to do this by yourself

Inside the Season Abroad Mentorship you get me one to one, plus the people I have already vetted on the ground, from the first honest look at your money all the way to the day you sign a lease on the other side. How long we work together depends on where you are starting and how fast you are moving.
